ABOUT US

KDRT 95.7 FM is grassroots radio from Davis, CA, airing an eclectic mix of music and public-affairs programming. A project of nonprofit Davis Media Access, KDRT streams worldwide via KDRT.org.

IMPLOSION is hosted by Nick Saloman, front person of The Bevis Frond. Born and raised in London, England, Nick started buying records as a small child in the late 1950s and began going to gigs and playing in bands as a teen in the late 60s. IMPLOSION is simply an hour of Nick playing the music that he loves (psychedelia, rock, folk, beat, jazz, soul, punk, and more), with a bit of chat thrown in for good measure. Nick says: "If I like it, then there have got to be a few other people who will too.

Classical Excursions

Classical radio programs often focus on well-known light classics and ignore challenging and imaginative masterworks, especially from the rich repertoire of 20th century music, which is very diverse. This results in listeners who are unaware of many wonderful works. Excursions will present short and longer works by famous as well as less known composers, with insightful commentary by a composer with years of experience in radio, classical marketing, and music education.

Live on the first, third and occasional fifth Friday of the month.

Since opening the gallery in 1986, he has helped establish it as one of Northern California’s important spaces for contemporary art. Located on First Street, the gallery functions not only as an exhibition venue but also as a cultural gathering place where artists, writers, musicians, and community members come together.

After years of dwindling news coverage in Yolo County, two regional news outlets — the Sacramento Bee and Abridged, a news source started by Sacramento public TV station KVIE in 2025 — have each launched free Yolo weekly newsletters this year, using stories written by journalists assigned to cover the county.

Today we talk with one of the reporters, Daniel Hennessy of Abridged, about how he finds and reports stories, and why Yolo is now getting more attention. He plans to cover the entire county, and his topics so far include the respite center on L Street in Davis, a proposed downtown entertainment zone in Winters, the county’s budget deficit, and fly-fishing on Putah Creek.

Maria Lucchesi, Senior Center supervisor, sits down with Mary Lou Carter, a longtime volunteer whose dedication has helped shape the welcoming spirit of the center. In their conversation, Maria and Mary Lou explore the many ways the Senior Center enriches the lives of Davis residents. From social gatherings and lifelong learning opportunities to support services and volunteer programs, the center plays an important role in keeping older adults connected and engaged in the community. With so many programs and stories to tell, this 30-minute interview only begins to touch the highlights.
