KDRT 95.7 FM is grassroots radio from Davis, CA, airing an eclectic mix of music and public-affairs programming. A project of nonprofit Davis Media Access, KDRT streams worldwide via KDRT.org.

Nuestra Musica, Our Music, presents the rhythms and folklore of Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and Cape Verde. From Tango to Flamenco and all Latinx music in between. The show explores the native instruments, languages, and traditions played in 22 countries and one territory. Other than Spanish and Portuguese, "Nuestra Musica" presents songs in Quechua, Mapuche, Guarani, Nahuatl, Gallego, Spanish Basque, and Catalan.

The Wild Fox Party

Tune in for a wide variety of roots music — including doo-wop, gospel, jazz, blues, rock 'n' roll, Latin, African, and hillbilly/country bluegrass — from the early 1920s to contemporary times. The Wild Fox Party focuses on vocal groups , small-group ensembles, and outstanding vocalists and instrumentalists who never or hardly ever get heard. The music provides a forum for learning about history and diverse cultures, and it does so through the exposure of music as art, highlighting points in time that will last forever via the medium of audio recordings.

On their debut album in 1968, a group of kids from the suburbs of north London covered a Richard Farina song about a city in Nevada. During the pandemic, a singer-songwriter from Edinburgh teamed up with musicians from Tucson. Sometime in between, a guitarist/mandolinist from Nashville became a founding member of a band of transatlantic musicians who play the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow every winter. This week on Listening Lyrics we welcome Eric Jones, who shares a playlist of the music that inspires him. All but one of the songs today are his selections, and he talks with us about why each one matters to him.

Eric (left, in photo with Pieter) is also a candidate in the race for California’s 4th Congressional District, which includes Davis, Napa, Vacaville, Woodland, and much of the North Bay. The 34-year-old Napa nonprofit leader is running as a Democrat in the 2026 election, challenging longtime incumbent Mike Thompson. Jones has focused his campaign on affordability, child and elder care, and addressing corporate tax loopholes.
