Tarek Isham visits KDRT

Tarek Isham found his musical voice while living in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward, where music and creativity make daily and deep impressions. Four years ago, he moved back to Clyde Park, Montana to help his mother with her Quarter Horse Ranch and to pursue an education in veterinary medicine, which subsequently brought him to Davis, California. Before moving, he played many nights and weekends in the Bozeman area in a duo called Cottonwood Line. Tarek plays guitar, harmonica, foot-pedal drums and sings songs–both original and old–in country, blues, gospel and folk styles. Look to catch one of his feel-like-dancing live shows and an upcoming demo album under the name Doc Tari, which was the name of a famous Quarter Horse.

For those outside the listening area this show will stream live at www.kdrt.org

Divine Intervention is about to strike the KDRT airwaves. This week, we'll dive again into the January 2017 releases...we'll rock a little, dance a little, love a little, laugh a little... Well, maybe we'll laugh (or cry) a lot over this week's "Vinyl Vespers" feature. Or, then again, maybe it's an amazing and rare find that we can enjoy together, acknowledging that we can't always judge a record by its cover.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' "Skeleton" Tree on Album of the Week - Jan 19

Skeleton Tree is a somber LP, even for Nick Cave.  Its's very atmospheric, with songs that defy the usual verse-chorus-verse of most pop tunes in much the same way as his last release, Push Away the Sky. The lyrics were written by Cave and the music by Cave and Bad Seed Warren Ellis, his chief collaborator since the mid 1990s. While the songs are dark and often sad, reportedly they were written before Cave’s son Arthur passed away unexpectedly in July 2015. The album was released in September 2016 in conjunction with the film One More Time with Feeling, which Cave used as a promotional vehicle rather than doing interviews. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds just stepped off on a world tour last week and will be appearing in Nor Cal on June 24.

Look at us, all prepared and ready to air with 90 minutes to spare! That's right, coming up at 7p sharp, Pacific time, it's a well-organized if not well-planned edition of Divine Intervention. We have some brand-new rock, pop, and more -- 2017 releases, no less -- along with some funk and some junk, and of course our "Vinyl Vespers" feature of the evening, pictured here, filed under the category of "Here's someone who didn't die in 2016!"...and ain't he just dreamy. :>
