KDRT 95.7 FM is grassroots radio from Davis, CA, airing an eclectic mix of music and public-affairs programming. A project of nonprofit Davis Media Access, KDRT streams worldwide via KDRT.org.

This Way Out is an award-winning nationally syndicated show that gives voice to the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender movement. Fighting for LGBT equality and rights since 1988, the program shows no signs of slowing down!

'Tis a time of CHANGE! Weather is cooler, season is later ... For some folks, it's time to cut down the cucumber vines and plant some brassicas. For others (like Don), there are still tomatoes ripening to harvest into October. What's your plan for a winter garden? Now is a good time to plant peas, lettuce, brassicas, and other cool seaon vegetablees. You can also plan to put "cover crops" on the portion of your summer garden that you don't plan to plant for the winter -- to keep down weeds and improve your soil.

Many Folk/Americana musicians -- like those featured on today's show -- have never shied away from calling out hypocrisy and injustice. Jackson Brown has long championed the anti-war movement. Iris DeMent (pictured here) advocates for women's rights. And Jason Isbell has challenged the intolerance and ignorance of many country music fans: recently he has advocated for proof of vaccinations to attend his live perfromances. Davisville, Sept. 6, 2021: Latest effort to reduce homelessness in Davis is taking shape on H Street

A firm number is hard to come by, but there are probably at least 200 homeless people in Davis. Paul's Place is the latest resource to help them get off the street. It will offer tiny apartments, transitional housing, and services, and it replaces an old, former house where Davis Community Meals and Housing has been offering help for more than 20 years.

On today's Davisville, DCMH Executive Director Bill Pride talks about Paul's Place, why it's named for his dad, the current state of homelessness in town, the effect of the pandemic, and a few insights he's learned over the years while seeking to help the homeless in Davis.

Covid started and we ended up wearing masks. I really never owned a mask before but now I have a box of them in the house and many more in my car. So of course I had to do a show on masks -- not only the type I have in my box, but the masks we wear to present ourselves to the world or to hide behind.

Great songs will take us on the musical journey of masks.
