Praise Time with Preacher

Praise Time with Preacher

The word "gospel" is derived for the old Anglo-Saxon word meaning “good message” or “good news." Host Preacher believes gospel music is powerful, whether the listener is or is not Christian — that everyone can enjoy listening to gospel because it is uplifting and inspiring, sung with passion and belief from the artist, touching all who hear it in a good and heartfelt way. The aim of Praise Time is to help listeners find what Preacher believes lives in everyone: a good spirit that drives us to be the best we can be.

Live Tuesday 4-5pm
Replays Sunday 7-8am

Roots, Shoots and Leaves

Roots, Shoots and Leaves' DJ Tree has a theory of music that involves a tree. Suffice it to say that it involves a trinity — an exploration of themes and connections among recording artists — and otherwise very few boundaries. Listen for music old and new, known and unknown. And if you listen long enough, you may experience some musical enlightenment.

Live Tuesday 6-8pm
Replays Thursday 4-6pm

Davisville, March 5, 2018: Brody Fernandez is no longer a council candidate, but his #1 topic is still housing

Mon, 03/05/2018 - 6:05pm | Bill Buchanan

Brody Fernandez Feb 2018.jpg

Brody Fernandez, who will graduate from UC Davis this year, was a candidate in the June Davis City Council election, then concluded he wouldn't be able to commit the time or resources the campaign would have required. His #1 issue was the housing problem in Davis, a common frustration, especially for students. He based some of his research on what he learned while driving people around as a driver for Lyft and Uber. Today we talk about what he thinks Davis should do, why he wanted to run, and what drew him to Davis in the first place.

The Melon Ball Stage.jpg

Williams of Watermelon Music visits kdrt,

Wyatt Williams, the first and current manager of booking and promotions at Watermelon Music, shares with us the story of Davis' newest live music venue: The Melon Ball (short for The Melon Ballroom). Situated adjacent to the beloved Davis music store, Watermelon Music, The Melon Ball is a 100 person hall that greets is audiences and artists with a professional and humble vibe. Past performers at The Melon Ball have remarked on the space's beauty and feel. The current owner of the hall and Watermelon Music, Jeff Simons, opened the venue for the purpose of having a local space for music teachers to host recitals, receptions, and other performances. The hall has since begun to take its first steps into becoming a regular spot for supporting the arts in and around Davis.

For those outside the listening area Listening Lyrics is streamed live on KDRT.
