Rush Hour, released in 1995, was a collaboration between the American jazz saxophonist Joe Lovano and longtime composer/arranger Gunther Schuller, featuring compositions by Ellington, Mingus, Monk, and Schuller.  Schuller coined the term "Third Stream", referring to a music composed and performed using jazz and classical music techniques.

MaryLou Anderson aka M.L. Edson ...

Thu, 03/23/2017 - 2:05pm | Lois Richter

Edson~SixRiversKiller~KDRT20170323-800x500.jpg

On this episode of "That’s Life" hosted by Lois Richter, we meet MaryLou Anderson, a local artist and writer with whom Lois became acquainted at the Davis Art Center. They met while Lois was admiring MaryLou’s glasswork and got to talking; and here they continue their conversation with us on KDRT.  Lois and MaryLou cover a lot of ground — from MaryLou’s pen name (M.L. Edson) to the chemical properties of dichroic glass — there is a lot to learn.

Davisville, March 20, 2017: We End the Marijuana-in-Davis Series with an Advocate’s Perspective

Mon, 03/20/2017 - 9:05pm | Bill Buchanan

Screen Shot 2017-03-19 at 6.50.23 PM.png

Today we talk with Amelia Paterson of Blessed Extracts, a medical marijuana nonprofit that wants to make products in Davis and so is keenly interested in the new marijuana law that the city is creating this spring. We talk about security, regulation, keeping recreational marijuana away from kids, research, why Blessed Extracts wants to make Davis its home, and more. This interview is the last of a three-part series on Davis’ effort to create a new municipal cannabis law now that Californians have legalized recreational use of marijuana throughout the state. If you missed the first interviews, here are links to part 1 (with Davis city administrators Dirk Brazil and Diane Parro) and part 2 (with Yolo County Public Health Officer Ron Chapman).

AotW this week is Stone Fox's first album, self-titled and released on Rockstar Records in 1996. Stone Fox was one of San Francisco's best 90s bands, bringing amazing energy to their recordings and much, much more to their live shows. Tune in 5-6p PT, March 16, to hear Jorjee, Yvette, Kim, Janis, and Brett rock off their (and your) socks -- or ripped nylons, as the case may be.

It's lucky Monday March 13th -- yes, of course that's a thing -- and we'll be celebrating with new music and more -- including this likely terrible Vinyl Vespers feature -- starting at 7p PT sharp. Even luckier, it'll feel like it's 6p because of the weekend's ridiculous clock change, so there you go. Tune in tonight for Divine Intervention -- rock, pop, miscellanea, etcetera -- on your favorite little radio station, KDRT 95.7 FM DAVIS.
