OUR PROGRAMS

Classical Excursions

Greg LaTraille

Classical radio programs often focus on well-known light classics and ignore challenging and imaginative masterworks, especially from the rich repertoire of 20th century music, which is very diverse. This results in listeners who are unaware of many wonderful works. Excursions will present short and longer works by famous as well as less known composers, with insightful commentary by a composer with years of experience in radio, classical marketing, and music education.

Live on the first, third and occasional fifth Friday of the month.

Live Friday 11am-1pm
Replays Sunday 9-11am

The Outcome in the studio this Friday May 3, 2019 at 4:00PM on Listening Lyrics

Mon, 04/29/2019 - 9:51am | Pieter Pastoor

The+Outcome+Band+Photo.jpg

The Outcome, listening lyrics, kdrt, pastoor,

The areas premier band "The Outcome" joins Listening Lyrics to preview their brand new CD release.

The Outcome’s unique brand of genre-bending music combines grooving backbeats, melodic bass lines, textural atmospherics, and searing guitar leads to produce the challenging yet palatable songs that define the band’s sound. This Sacramento quartet has made their mark by striking a balance between complexity and listenability. While exerting meticulous focus of their material, Jesse, Andy, Mike, and Quinn refuse to settle or compromise their standards for songwriting. Seeing their music as a catalyst for connection, The Outcome look for ways to bring imaginative new experiences to listeners that manifest emotions and provoke intrigue.

For those outside the listening area this show will be streamed live on KDRT.

Davisville, April 22, 2019: Former Rep. McCloskey, now of Rumsey, wants Democrats to focus on legislation, not on impeaching Trump

Mon, 04/22/2019 - 6:10pm | Bill Buchanan

Pete McCloskey 042019 (1).jpg

Pete McCloskey, 91, has done a lot, and has known a lot of people. He’s a Marine combat veteran of the Korean War, and a former Republican congressman from the Bay Area. He helped write key environmental laws, opposed the Vietnam War, and ran against President Nixon for the GOP nomination in 1972. In 1973, after the Saturday Night Massacre, McCloskey was the first member of Congress to call publicly for Nixon to resign—which Nixon did, in 1974. After 59 years in the Republican Party, McCloskey joined the Democrats in 2007. Today we talk about the Mueller report, McCloskey’s advice to Democrats to pursue “progressive” legislation instead of impeaching President Trump, and why he and his wife Helen live in the Capay Valley. They have friendly feelings for Davis—two of his four children went to the UC campus here.

Josh & Amy Anne Kräge on Listening Lyrics, Recorded, Apr 19th, 2019

Fri, 04/19/2019 - 5:10pm | Pieter Pastoor

Krage.jpeg

Listen now to the replay

“Husband and wife singer/songwriter duo Joshua and Amy Anne Kräge had been playing music in and around Sacramento for ten years before ever even meeting, let alone playing music together.  Filling in for members of the same cover band for a private event in October 2013, their first meeting was their first practice together for their first gig together; their first date was just a few days later, and they've been playing together ever since.

Both members of too many bands to ever be able to list over the years, Amy and Joshua found common ground in versatility.  Amy has sung and Josh has played everything from opera to Steely Dan to '90s grunge to folk pop to roadhouse blues to '50s doo-wop to Chaka Khan-approved funk and more.  Currently also working together in chameleonic Sacramento pop/funk outfit The Pressure Lounge, they decided to make Love + Honey about the lighter side of the art of music, focusing on positive message and powerful melody in both their original songs and cover material choices.

Equipped with ears for harmonies and hearts for lifting the spirits of whoever's listening, Love + Honey strives to be the brightest spot on the speakers of the collective world.”
