OUR PROGRAMS

Roots, Shoots and Leaves

Roots, Shoots and Leaves' DJ Tree has a theory of music that involves a tree. Suffice it to say that it involves a trinity — an exploration of themes and connections among recording artists — and otherwise very few boundaries. Listen for music old and new, known and unknown. And if you listen long enough, you may experience some musical enlightenment.

Live Tuesday 6-8pm
Replays Saturday 7-9pm
DJ(s):
Tree Kilpatrick

Brotherly Mud Performs at Armadillo Music for 2nd Friday ArtAbout May 10, 2019, 6:30PM

Wed, 05/08/2019 - 6:30pm | Pieter Pastoor

statetheatre.jpg

brotherly Mud, KDRT,

The Davis Second Friday ArtAbout is in for a real treat at Armadillo Music (207 "F" Street, Davis, CA) this week. KDRT presents the band Brotherly Mud. These guys will charm you with their harmonies, enchant you with their music and instruments, thrill you with their stage presence and finally you will fall in love with them because all 4 are super dudes and human beings.

Brotherly Mud is as if the 60's and 70's folk tradition continued into the modern day, taking influence from today's songwriters while respecting yesterday's honesty.

With members graduating from the Berklee College of Music and the Musician's Institute, Brotherly Mud respects the art of musical creation through both an educational and deeply human lens.

Constantly working to be true to their artistic spirits, Brotherly Mud is currently touring with their original material all over the West Coast, with shows, radio interviews and the occasional secret performance.

Sumaia Jackson on Live Dirt May 10th at 11:00AM

Wed, 05/08/2019 - 7:41am | Bill Wagman

Unknown.jpeg

Sumia Jackson recently appeared at The Palms with Jayme Stone's Folklife.  She will be appearing there with her own band on Friday May 10th.  That same morning, Sumia will drop by the KDRT studios for a live dirt with me - Folk Brother Bill - at 11AM.  With a driving groove and a smooth, open sound, fiddler and tunestress Sumaia Jackson is a quintessential modern West Coast fiddler. Jackson weaves together Old-Time, Bluegrass, Swing, and Celtic traditions with an easy virtuosity and melodic elegance.

Izaak Opatz on LIVE DIRT this Thursday May 9, 2019 at 11:30AM

Wed, 05/08/2019 - 7:40am | Pieter Pastoor

th-1.jpeg

Izaak Opatz joins us for the truly live POP UP show LIVE DIRT this Thursday May 9, 2019 at 11:30AM. Izaak will appear at the Palms Playhouse in Winters, CA  5/9/19

His songs teeter on the edge of sentimental-songwriter’y-sad-n-lonely crap. This is a very tough area for a songwriter to inhabit. Mainly because it’s so easy to get lumped in with the rest of the middle-aged losers down at the Applebee’s open mic (next to the airport). BUT IZAAK DOES IT SO WELL that you actually start making plans to visit Montana and you tell the wife you love her.

For those outside the listening area this show will be streamed live on www.kdrt.org

Davisville, May 6, 2019: If Davis adopts this flag, Aidan Ramey says he’ll tattoo it on his skin

Mon, 05/06/2019 - 6:40pm | Bill Buchanan

Davis flag proposed design 8.png

For most of the last two years, Aidan Ramey, a third-year electrical engineering student at UC Davis, has been promoting the idea of creating a flag for Davis—or a new flag, depending on how you regard what the city has now. Why? What would you use it for? Why this design, which has earned the best response among the designs presented so far? And why does this mean so much to him? We get his answers today on Davisville.

The Outcome in the studio this Friday May 3, 2019 at 4:00PM on Listening Lyrics

Mon, 04/29/2019 - 9:51am | Pieter Pastoor

The+Outcome+Band+Photo.jpg

The Outcome, listening lyrics, kdrt, pastoor,

The areas premier band "The Outcome" joins Listening Lyrics to preview their brand new CD release.

The Outcome’s unique brand of genre-bending music combines grooving backbeats, melodic bass lines, textural atmospherics, and searing guitar leads to produce the challenging yet palatable songs that define the band’s sound. This Sacramento quartet has made their mark by striking a balance between complexity and listenability. While exerting meticulous focus of their material, Jesse, Andy, Mike, and Quinn refuse to settle or compromise their standards for songwriting. Seeing their music as a catalyst for connection, The Outcome look for ways to bring imaginative new experiences to listeners that manifest emotions and provoke intrigue.

For those outside the listening area this show will be streamed live on KDRT.
