KDRT 95.7 FM is grassroots radio from Davis, CA, airing an eclectic mix of music and public-affairs programming. A project of nonprofit Davis Media Access, KDRT streams worldwide via KDRT.org.

NextGen Talks

NextGen Talks is a youth-driven program that offers a fresh perspective on state politics, featuring interviews with city officials and state leaders. Hosted by Jazmin Garcia, a high school junior with extensive experience in local government, the program highlights issues that matter most to young people, such as public safety, housing, and education. By focusing on the local actions that shape the future for youth, NextGen Talks aims to bridge the gap between young citizens and their city leaders, fostering a more engaged and informed community.

In the Key of Folk with Karen Leyse offers music that will keep you humming or dancing along — perhaps both! The focus is on traditional and current folk music, Americana, and bluegrass, with Celtic, Nordic, and Spanish infusions — wherever Karen's travels and interests take her. We'll feature music from a slew of artists who are headed our way soon, including Lael Neale at Davis Odd Fellows Hall on March 17 (thanks Davis Live Music Collective ), Reverend Horton Heat and Dale Watson at Harlow's on March 18, and @Mike Clark and the Sugar Sounds , who will be at Sudwerk Brewing Co. on March 23! Lots of other musical compostables as well, and the official color of tonight's show is green!

Local filmmakers Glenda and Jesse Drew join Dug Deep in the KDRT studio to discuss their film Open Country, a documentary about the history and politics of country music. It features interviews with Billy Bragg, Hazel Dickens, Jon Langford and Pete Seeger, to name just a few. The movie will be screened at Odd Fellows Hall, 2nd and D streets in downtown Davis, on Sunday, March 10 at 6 p.m. This screening is a benefit for KDRT with tickets available here.
