Divine Intervention Strikes - Aug 7

Mon, 08/07/2017 - 6:52pm | Jess Goddésse

John Travolta cover art

This week's edition of Divine Intervention is breaking the rules for Vinyl Vespers. First of all, we pretty much all know this "artist" on sight. Second, the image is a lie -- we did not spring for the "digitally remastered" [good-goddess-why?] edition. Third, we *may* play more than one track if the mood strikes. So there. Other than that, there will be indescribeable new rock/pop and other sundry goodness. Tune in this fine Monday evening, 7-9p PT, only on KDRT-FM.

That’s Life at 1PM (Thu 8/10) ft. Anne Cowles

Mon, 08/07/2017 - 8:43am | Eunah

unnamed.png

Lois’ guest, Anne Cowles, will talk about her belief in astrology and what she thinks is in the works for us in 2017. Anne says, “The upcoming total solar eclipse visible all the way across Middle America holds the power to reboot the American consciousness over the next year. How will it impact you individually? the President and the USA? Astrology has predictions!"

Whether you believe the stars can guide your personal life or that the stars are distant suns that might hold alien life, this month’s solar eclipse could be the talk of the nation.  Will you be among those journeying north to watch it?

It's a who-knows-what-the-heck's-gonna-happen kinda night on Divine Intervention -- so be prepared to buckle up, go with the flow, and [mix in some vague and also unrelated metaphor here]! There will be new music, and there will be rock, but WHICH new music and WHAT rock is unknown. What IS known is that Vinyl Vespers is breaking ranks and [insert another metaphor!] tonight: We'll hear an artist we probably all recognize, at least by name -- he's just too divine to dismiss. Tune in Monday eve, starting at 7 pm, only on KDRT!

Davisville, July 24, 2017: A Remarkable Yolo County Turnaround Story

Mon, 07/24/2017 - 6:05pm | Bill Buchanan

Dennis Cortopassi (1).jpg

One morning in February 2013, Dennis Cortopassi drove his pickup truck into the front window of a 7-Eleven store on East Main Street in Woodland, believing he was Jesus Christ and wanting to draw attention. He was arrested, charged with felonies, and then offered a chance to get help through the Yolo County Mental Health Court in Woodland. He took the opportunity, worked his way through the program, and now helps others who struggle like he has. On today’s program he talks about the incident, what led up to it, his recovery, living with a bipolar condition, and the work he does to help others cope with their own mental illnesses. His candor makes this interview one of the most powerful we've presented since starting Davisville nearly 9 years ago.

Album Of The Week (July 26th): Offa Rex's "The Queen Of Hearts"

Sun, 07/23/2017 - 11:10am | Peter Schiffman

Offa Rex

Portland-based The Decemberists have partnered with English singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Olivia Chaney to create an album which celebrates and reimagines 60's and 70's British folk rock.  Front man Colin Meloy had dreamed of having The Decemberists be the Albion Band/Steeleye Span/Fairport Convention to Chaney's role as Shirley Collins/Maddy Prior/Sandy Denny.   The results are stunning.  The Decemberists with Olivia Chaney will be appearing at The Mondavi Center on August 18th.   Please join me this Wednesday (July 26th at 5 PM).
