As has been announced on recent shows of mine, on 5/30/09, and 5/31/09, the Vocal Arts Ensemble under the direction of Tracia Barbieri will present a concert of vocal and instrumental music from the British Isles. This will include British Renaissance music, as well as Irish jigs, and Gaelic Airs. Celtic instrumentalists Bob Wren and Ray Frank, as well as classical guitarist Matthew Grasso will be present to present period instrumental pieces, and to accompany the vocalists on some of their numbers.
In honor of Hardwater's CD release party, Thursday's 7-8am freeform music hour will be devoted to Hardwater and some of their influences...listen in and comment!
For those who went to see this amazing artist on 5/14/09 at the Mondavi Center no comment is necessary. For those who didn't go, make sure you do next time he is in town. He was extremely generous with the audience. Bravo!

But Erich Sylvester will come and talk about his years playing with the Cincinnati Dancing Pigs, playing some of his favorites and in general having a good time on Sounds So Sweet. Tume in.
The community is invited for a great evening of music with local folk-rock heros, Hardwater, at the Plainfield Station Roadhouse, 23944 County Road 98, for a gala event celebrating the release of their new CD, "Osmosis", on Saturday, June 6th at 7pm; $ 5.00 cover charge at the gate.
Who are the Amazing Grapes you say?
The Amazing Grapes is Bob Palasek, Erich Sylvester, and Mike Billo.
The band performs songs from the classic jug bands of the 1920s, as well as some hillbilly hokum, old time jazz and ragtime.
The band employs all the classic sounds of the jug band: harmonica, banjo, guitar, jug, and kazoo, plus fiddle, mandolin, and washboard.
Erich and Bob are Alumni of the Cincinnati Dancing Pigs, one of America's oldest, ongoing Jug Bands.
Mike is a 40 year veteran of the San Francisco Jug Band scene.
