Listen
with the night falling we are saying thank you
we are stopping on the bridges to bow from the railings
we are running out of the glass rooms
with our mouths full of food to look at the sky
and say thank you
we are standing by the water thanking it
smiling by the windows looking out
in our directions

Save-a-Gallon Contest topic of next "Speakeasy'

Christal Waters and Tim Starback of Davis Bicycles! are the guests on the Nov. 4 edition of "Speakeasy," a local talk show that airs Wednesdays at 10 a.m. on KDRT-LP, 95.7 FM in Davis. The show is also streamed live and archived at http://kdrt.org. The segment will repeat Nov. 11.

Waters and Starback will discuss Davis Bicycles!' many projects, but especially their school-related initiatives, including the citywide bike-to-school contest know as "Save-a-Gallon."

From the libretto of "Habanera", from Georges Bizet's "Carmen"

Love is a rebellious bird,
that no one can tame.
And you call him quite in vain
if it suits him not to come.

Nothing helps, neither threat nor prayer;
one man talks well,
but the other man is the one that I prefer.
He's silent, but I like his looks.

Love! Love! Love! Love!

Love is a gypsy's child,
it has never, ever known a law.
Love me not, then I love you;
If I love you, you best beware.

The bird you thought that you had caught,
beat it's wings and flew away.
Love stays away, you wait and wait;
when least expected, there it is.

All around you, swift so swift,

Like Rain it sounded till it curved by Emily Dickinson
Like Rain it sounded till it curved
And then I new 'twas Wind --
It walked as wet as any Wave
But swept as dry as sand --
When it had pushed itself away
To some remotest Plain
A coming as of Hosts was heard
