Jug Band Doins'

I'm going to be at the Haight Street Fair on Sunday. I'll be playing jug with the Amazing Grapes at noon in the Red Vic and with Babar at 2:00 at the Mural Stage. I'll also be at the CJBA booth. Stop by and say Hi!

Meanwhile I pulled out a show from January featuring bands from Australia. This is a thank you to Tony Dunn of the Gutbucket Jug Band down under who sent a very nice response to my show of May 29th in which I gave props to the reuniting of Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band. Enjoy!

I'll be live again on the 19th.

The Waking
By Theodore Roethke
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree; but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

Farewell Sports Chat Guys

We bid a fond farewell to Brett and CJ as they move on to ESPN...right? For the time being Le Show will fill the Friday 11am time slot; Rocket and Shortwave Report will cover our Saturday 8-9am time slot. But...we're really hoping the more sporting among us will apply to fill the big shoes that Brett and CJ have left in the studio. If so, please email info@kdrt.org for more information.

Recently, we got an email from Audrey & Orwell http://www.facebook.com/audreyandorwell. If you're an early Saturday riser...you're in luck...either way you can check out the sounds. If you have submissions, suggestions...please email info@kdrt.org and let the music play!

There's an App so we can listen to KDRT on IOS devices...which means...wherever you can get on-line you can listen to the 'drt! It's called FStream and is free at the Apple App store. Here's what you do: 1) Go to the App Store and search for "FStream", 2) Install the App to your device, 3) Select the Star ("Favorites"), this will bring up a window in which you can add a new web radio station, 4) Select the + and type KDRT for "Name" and http://davismedia.org:8000/kdrt.m3u into the URL field 5) Save and select the "Play" button. This will take you back to the home page...just select KDRT and soon you'll be hearing "where the grassroots grow" wherever you are!

The world is as it appears
By Miguel Hernández
The world is as it appears
before my five senses,
and before yours, which are
the borders of my own.
The others' world
is not ours: not the same.
You are the body of water
that I am— we, together,
are the river
which as it grows deeper
is seen to run slower, clearer.
Images of life—
as soon as we receive them,
they receive us, delivered
jointly, in one rhythm.
But things form themselves
in our own delirium.
The air has the hugeness
of the heart I breathe,
and the sun is like the light
with which I challenge it.
Blind to the others,
dark, always remiss,
we always look inside,
we see from the most intimate places.
It takes work and love
to see these things with you;
to appear, like water
