KDRT radio programs about generational responses to war; Vince Guaraldi’s holiday music; a project that connects post-pandemic UC Davis students in a fun way, and the sport of Ultimate have all won awards for excellence in the 2023 San Francisco Press Club Greater Bay Area Journalism Awards. The club announced the honors during its annual awards dinner Dec. 13 in San Francisco. Several outlets
won multiple awards, ranging from SFGATE, KQED public radio and India Currents to San Francisco Classical Voice, Bloomberg, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
Rohan Baxi, a student at Da Vinci Charter Academy High School in Davis, and host/producer of Timeout Radio, won first place Radio/Audio-Non-Commercial: Sports Feature for his May 22, 2022 episode on Ultimate.
Bill Buchanan, a longtime Davis journalist and host/producer of Davisville, along with his brother and Program Engineer Jim Buchanan, swept the category of Radio/Audio-Non-Commercial: Public Affairs Program (with a staff of 1 to 4) with the following:
