24. Resistance is Real – Safer and Smarter Antibiotic Use in Argentina

Antibiotic resistance is when bacteria evolve to withstand the medicines designed to kill them. About half the time that we use an antibiotic, it's not actually needed or is the wrong one for the job. That misuse is what's driving antibiotic resistance. Resistant infections lead to longer illnesses, hospital stays, higher costs, disabilities, and deaths. Facundo Jorro-Baron tells us about how a group of public hospitals he worked with changed their antibiotic prescription practices. Hear why the fight against antibiotic resistance deals with some resistance of its own. And like most resistance, it too is local.

Nicole Laurenne Live! (Dec 26th, 2025)

Despite wind and rain and thunder and lightning and viruses, Santa still delivered his best gift for Boxing Day -- a live (via Zoom) interview with Nicole Laurenne, the dynamic leader of The Darts (U.S.) and femme fatale in her Black Viiolet alter ego. Nicole joined us for a lively discussion of her holiday visit, recent tour high- and lowlights, plans for 2026 and a badass selection of tunes that have influenced and inspired her over the years. And as a bonus gift, we had the World Broadcast Debut of Black Viiolet's cover of the holiday classic You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch!  All of this while battling an unfortunate holiday virus. Many, many thanks to Nicole for (literally) sweating this out!

Replay of The Yolo County Breakdown from May 02, 2025

Rocky is joined by a very special guest - the one and only Flux himself - Jerry Douglas. They celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the most important bluegrass recordings of all time - the J.D. Crowe and the New South album better known as Rounder 044. Jerry is one of only 2 surviving members of the band that created a new standard of excellence in bluegrass when they released this album back in 1975. In the 50 years since, Jerry has cemented his place in music history as the greatest dobro player of all time. He has won 16 Grammy Awards and appeared on thousands of recordings in a career that is unmatched by any other resophonic guitar player on planet Earth. Jerry reminisces on the legendary New South recording sessions, playing alongside Tony Rice, Ricky Skaggs, Bobby Slone and J.D. Crowe.
