Music programs are only online for two weeks after they are broadcast.

The music around us in everyday items, on Listening Lyrics

This week Listening Lyrics plays tunes that include everyday nonmusical instruments, like the anvil. We open the show with a song (that you probably know) using an anvil.

Other songs use such items as a lighter, typewriter, chainsaw, elevator shaft, Coke cans, factory sounds, saws and wine glasses.

Listen and enjoy!

Live Tracks for 7:00pm on Mar 25th, 2021

High energy rock and roll with recordings of Joe Craven and the Sometimers, Mumbo Gumbo, the Nickel Slots and Elvis and the E-Men.  That's just the first set.  The second set lays back with thoughtful lyrics and virtuoso guitar work from Sandy Coldiron (with support from Jan Peters on mandolin), the Honey Badgers, Gene Parsons and David Hayes, Kurt Roggli and Martin Lewis (Me and Him), and Achilles Wheel Trio.  The evening rounds out with a short rockin' set from Evan Daly Blues Band and Ray "Catfish" Copeland.

Did I leave something out?  Yup.  Listen in and find out.  Peace.

Davis Garden Show March 25 2021

Don and Lois talk about a wide variety of Spring gardening topics!  Starting off with a mention of the warm weekend temperatures forecast, and about the latest update regarding California's ongoing drought, two years running. Today, the statewide figures are updated showing our region in "extreme drought" due to the low rainfall during our "typical" rain season September - March. Don talks about how this can especially impact our trees and other plants, and gives some watering advice. And of course, a return to the frequently asked questions such as: When is it best plant tomatoes? Mid-April! The Davis Garden Show airs live on KDRT 95.7 FM each Thursday noon - 1 PM, and replays Saturday monings 9 - 10 AM.

That's William T "Bill" Hollingshead, 1937 - 2021

This is in memory of Bill Hollingshead who died last month.  He was a UCD alum, a native of Woodland, and the son of a famous photographer.  During an interview on That's Life in 2009, Bill shared much of his history as well as that of his father -- Paul W Hollingshead.  We re-air that interview now so that Bill's friends can hear his voice one more time.

Bill's obituary was published by the Daily Democrat (Woodland CA) and is online at:  https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/dailydemocrat/obituary.aspx?n=william-...
