Dr. Paul wishes you a classic 4th of July!Tue, 07/03/2012 - 1:00pm | Dr. PaulOpen a can of spinach, and celebrate the 4th of July with Popeye and his all-American friends who composed music as familiar to us in America as our flag. March with John Phillip Sousa, swing with Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue," view the Grand Canyon from the saddle of a mule, rhumba with Gottschalk's "A Night in the Tropics," and when it's all over, lie back and swoon to "Starry Nights, Doggy Days" by John London. Dr. Paul wishes you all to have a wonderful, safe, and happy 4th of July! |

What's your favorite way to spend July 4th?Sun, 07/01/2012 - 7:00pm | RadhaObviously, you would like to spend it boogey-ing at a Phish show...so let's do just that. Tonight's show features Set 2 from July 4, 1999. It opens with a kick-ass Ghost and has an extra-tight, bass-heavy Mike's Song near the end. During the second hour, we offer part of Farm Aid, a benefit show from Oct. 3, 1998. Specifically, tune in for 30 minutes of Phish rockin' out with Neil Young on Runaway Jim > Arc > Down By the River. It's a musical treat for the holiday season. Enjoy! |

The Davis School Board eventually chose a smaller number, but for several weeks board member Richard Harris galvanized the town—at least, the part that pays attention to Davis schools and taxes—with his proposal to place a parcel tax of up to $642 per year on the local ballot this November. That’s at least two times larger than any schools tax previously approved in Davis, including the one voters endorsed just a few months ago. The board opted instead for a
