Live Tracks Airs 60s - Early 70s Long Form Jams Including Jefferson Airplane, Savoy Brown, and Barry "The Fish" MeltonThu, 08/31/2017 - 9:05pm | Jim BuchananAs part of the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love, the concert commitee at the Davis Odd Fellows Hall has organized a special "Thursday Live!" concert for Sept. 7th from 7-10pm with an all-star line-up of local musicians collaborating on the iconic songs of that special era. Tributes will include the music of Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Moby Grape, It's A Beautiful Day, Youngbloods, Buffalo Springfield, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, The Byrds, Neil Young, and Country Joe and The Fish, to name a few. In preparation for this upcoming community concert, Jim has pulled out the vinyl for some long jam tracks from the likes of Jefferson Airplane, Savoy Brown, and a special local live performance from Barry Melton and friends recorded at a 2011 KDRT benefit concert at the Davis Odd Fellows Hall. For additional sixties-era "flavor", Jim includes some anti-war ditties from satirist and songwriter Tom Lehrer. |
