It's Dead Wax Episode 15! The Grateful Dead were more than a Rock band. They played Jazz, Blues, Soul, Bluegrass, and Classic Country. Today, we're going to feature classic country tunes that the Dead covered over the years. We'll play the original, classic country tune, and then follow it with the Grateful Dead cover. We'll hear from Hank Williams, George Jones, Marty Robbins, Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson w/Kris Kristofferson. The Dead do all of these artists justice with their live performances of some of the most famous country tunes of all time. Whether you're a Deadhead or a classic country fan, tune in and we'll all have a great time. No fighting!

PERCUSSION PERCUSSION PERCUSSION...SO [much] PERCUSSION.
Listen to this amazing hour of music with a twist. Their Friday & Saturday shows at Mondavi this past weekend were the inspiration behind this installment of Civilization Phaze IV. I picked out some of the weird and wonderful offerings the percussion/classical world has to offer (including a couple throwbacks to my undergrad years at UCSD with some Red Fish Blue Fish & Pierzak), some of my favorite symphonic works ("Death of Tybalt" from Prokofiev's R&J), BACH & GLASS, and of course, a few of So Percussion.
This weekend reaffirmed my love for percussion-based music and now I get to share it with y'all!
