We often hear how rough the Stage Coach ride was, but it was Twain who said he enjoyed it. The first two chapters of "Roughing It" talk about the Stage Coach ride West from the Mississippi. Of course Twain sometimes adjusted a reality to fit his humor needs. In short Twain could tell "a big one" now and then.

This week we feature the brand new album from JD McPherson, Let The Good Times Roll. This album has a great old shool soul feel to it. Rooted somewhere between R&B artists like Fats Domino and Little Richard and late 1950's/early 1960's era Rock, JD is obviously a student of vintage sounds. However, his music is not just reproduction of older sounds, he brings along with him an assortment of modern influences. JD is a former middle school teacher in Oklahoma, but was relieved of his duties in 2011 when he shared an album from the Punk band, Bad Brains, with his students in their mixed tape club. We'll play 3 tracks from this excellent album, which is his sophmore release. We'll also hear from John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, The Everly Brothers, Ellmore James, Otis Redding, Etta James and others as we explore similar sounds.
