The Yolo County Breakdown for Oct 09, 2026

This week's show features a track from the legendary Kitchen Tapes of Red Allen & Frank Wakefield that signifies the end of Summer. And even if we are ready for the cooler fall temperatures, we keep the heat coming with Dan Tyminski doing his Ode to Jimmy Martin, Billy Strings driving Ten Thousand Miles, and Jerry Douglas delivering a solo dobro performance for the ages. Enjoy!

The Yolo County Breakdown for Oct 02, 2026

This week Rocky starts things off with a couple from a very young Bela Fleck and his bandmates known as the Dreadful Snakes and Tasty Licks. Missy Armstrong lets us know the next sound we hear is gonna be Crickets, and Jason Carter teams up with David Grier and Tim O'Brien for a downright lowdown hoedown. Enjoy!

The Yolo County Breakdown for Sep 18, 2026

Bill Monroe, Father of Bluegrass Music, was born on September 13, 1911, so this week's show is a birthday tribute to the man who started it all. Rocky spins Monroe singing his own songs and playing his own tunes as well as other folks covering his songs and people who were once Bluegrass Boys doing their own thing too. Happy Birthday Bill! Plus the lates from Billy Strings and some sad news to report about Alison Krauss.

The Yolo County Breakdown for Sep 11, 2026

An always tight band put together by Doyle Lawson kicks things off and Rocky takes us on a string music journey that leads to Jazz-focused but bluegrass adjacent guitar icon Bill Frisell by the time the hour is up. Some traditional and some avant garde things fill in the spaces along the way. Enjoy!

The Yolo County Breakdown for Aug. 28, 2026

Dolly Parton was a legend. Her passing this week means the world lost one of its brightest lights. She was smart, funny, sassy, and one of the greatest entertainers the world has ever known. This week's installment of the Yolo County Breakdown celebrates her enormous contributions by presenting her music and letting her singing, songwriting, and pure heart shine a light for all of us to see. We will always love you, Dolly!

The Yolo County Breakdown for Aug 14, 2026

This week Rocky has a few brand new tracks - one from Benson and one from Alan Bibey that also features Sierra Hull and Ronnie McCoury. A feast for mandolin lovers! Plus oldies from Martin, Watson, and Monroe and an obscure duet from Richard Greene and Tony Rice that is as adventurous as Richard gets!

Hi Friends,

We are aware of the problems on the KDRT website right now. Shows are not appearing on the showpages, and podcasts are not getting posted. I will try to post direct links to shows after they air so you can still listen if you don't catch them live. Apologies for this. The tech folks assure me a fix is in the works.

Aloha,

Rocky

Mr. Outcrop,

I am a songwriter from North Carolina with a new single I just released on Get It Played from the album "Living In Yesterday,"

The song "Cimbing Up This Mountain" is under Scott Strickland/ Creech's Mill featuring Kiesha Bryant. I humbly ask that you might take a listen and possibly play the song on your show. Thanks for your consideration. Scott Strickland.
