Album of the Week - Fiery Furnaces "Bitter Tea" - TH 3/5 5P

Fiery Furnaces Bitter Tea cover image This week's AotW is "Bitter Tea," the 2006 release by the Fiery Furnaces, a band composed of brother and sister Eleanor and Matt Friedberger. It’s a trippy, inspired piece of work that features a tinny upright piano--dragged from the lounge of a depression-era bordello--functioning as the signature instrument, stitching together the patchwork songs with Matt's speedy little trills. Toss in Eleanor’s high, clipped voice; some moog; backward vocals; and other electronic and studio madness...these kids are really on to something! :> DJ Dug Deep hosts.

Lend us your ears--and your hands

KDRT is commercial-free, independent radio powered by people like you--folks who volunteer time and skills in support of local radio... We're always open to community members with talent, skills, and ideas to share--as DJs or staffers to help with publicity, promotions, music, public affairs, production, web, and tech... Want more info on volunteer opportunities? Just send an e-mail with you interests and contact info to info@kdrt.org. Thanks for keeping our grass roots growing!
