When discussing steady musical fixtures in the Northern California area, the name Alex Roth rises to the top. Passionate about music, song, and lyrics, he's been able to highlight all three while writing songs and fronting his band, “The West Nile Ramblers. ” A skilled songwriter and gifted performer, Alex also lends his talents to other area bands. A generous soul and a man of many talents, Alex runs his coffee company The Pepper Peddler, and donates his time and talent to many local causes, including KDRT. A longtime community favorite, KDRT and Armadillo Music are excited to see and hear Alex perform solo for the April Davis 2nd Friday ArtAbout.

“Songs of the Cowboy.” This episode was inspired by a songbook called “Songs of the Cowboys” by Ron Middlebrook. You’ll hear traditional cowboy songs sung by performers of the past and present. Many of the songs have been voted as Top 100 Western Songs of All Time. Gold nuggets, every one!

Award-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Nachmanoff will perform a benefit concert for Purple Tree Café on Saturday, April 6, 2019. The benefit will be held at Watermelon Music's concert space, The Melon Ball in Davis, California. Nachmanoff will perform songs from his soon-to-be-released CD, “Cerulean Sky". Purple Tree Café is a local nonprofit with the dual mission of providing employment opportunities to people with disabilities, and bringing people with and without disabilities together through music, art and community. Purple Tree has been employing people with disabilities to make and sell coffee and vegan and wheat-free baked goods at the Davis Farmers Market and other public and private events since April of 2018. They are currently planning toward their goal of opening a brick-and-mortar cafe.

"Cow Mooo-sings." Today's show is a light, fun episode. When you think about cowboys, what is it that they have in common? Well, lots of things, but how about the source of their name: "Cows". Cows or Cattle are the underpinning of cowboy culture but they don't get enough individual attention. So, today's show is called "Cow Mooo-sings" and is an ode to called our bovine partners. All the songs and cowboy poetry will be about these critters and I hope that you'll find it "A-mooo-sing!"
