As the outbreak of COVID-19 leaves most of us doing business from makeshift offices and living room couches, it’s anything but business as usual.
That goes for our programming at KDRT 95.7 fm. With the exception of Autumn Labbe-Renault’s excellent community report of COVID-19, broadcast live Tuesday and Friday from 12:00 to 12:30, we’re relying on rebroadcasts of previous shows.
Our hardworking management and technical staff - all working remotely - are doing what they can to bring us back on air with live broadcasting, most likely from our couch or kitchen.
So thank you for listening and we “hope you’re well.”

Resource listings from the COVID-19 Community Report are updated each week and currently include the following category headings: Arts and Music, Business, Community, County Services, Food, Media, Non-Profits, Public Health and Schools. We’ll continue connecting with local schools, churches, businesses, elected officials, non-profits and so on to provide and update local information. Please send announcements to the Covid-19 Community Response show page at KDRT.org.
ARTS & MUSIC
I'm getting ready for tomorrow's episode, when we'll chat with Davis Poet James Lee Jobe, and Elizabeth Gray of the Yolo County Library. Especially in times like this, we need some reflective moments and diversions! Learn about Jobe's virtual offerings at this time, and hear about the Library's e-reader program and other services.
On Friday, we'll chat with Yolo County Supervisor for District 2, Don Saylor, and also check in with the Yolo Public Health Department. As always, I include a large resource listing with each episode on the show page--some I will have read on the air, others are blog listings only. https://kdrt.org/program/covid-19-community-report
In times of crisis, especially, local media outlets are important conduits to the community. I'm carrying the KDRT/Davis Media Access banner in terms of live programming at this moment in time, and I hope it's a beacon and of help. Missing our DJs & other volunteers!

ARTS & MUSIC
Davis Live Music Collective is a non-profit, volunteer organization formed to curate, organize, host, and promote diverse, high-quality concerts in Davis. CA. They have this to say about their project, “A Song A Day: Music Bringing Hope”—
In the midst of the fear and uncertainty many are experiencing these days, we hope to help bring some light and hope to everyone while also supporting our local musicians. While we are staying safe by staying home, we would like to share a song a day here and on our social media channels starting Monday, March 23.
On tomorrow's episode (March 20, 2020),we'll hear from Superintendent John Bowes of the Davis Joint Unified School District at 12:05, for some updates and resources for families moving forward.
At 12:20, we'll chat with community organizer Kate Mellon-Anibaba, founder of the incredibly active Covid-19 Yolo Community Response Group on Facebook. Tune in to find out how community members across Yolo County are mustering to meet a wide variety of community needs.
Confirmed guests for Tuesday March 24 include Elizabeth Gray of the Yolo County Library, and Davis Poet Laureate James Lee Jobe. Next Friday, we'll hear from Yolo County District 2 Supervisor Don Saylor.
In between interviews, I'll share what resources I can on the air, but you'll find them after every show, along with a recording of the episode, on the show's page.
Thanks for tuning in. Stay safe & well.
In an effort to protect our community of volunteers, public visitors, and staff, and consistent with current public health guidelines, we have made the decision to close the Davis Media Access and KDRT facility to the general public through the end of March. This decision is implemented with our closure at 6 pm this evening, Friday, March 13, 2020. As a community facility with heavy use and much shared equipment, we feel this is the most responsible way we can help #flattenthecurve, support social distancing, and help keep the COVID-19 virus from spreading.
Behind the scenes, here is what will be happening:
For the next two weeks, I’ll be offering a live show on KDRT on Tuesdays & Fridays from 12-12:30, repeating at 5 pm both days. The COVID-19 Community Report will focus on information and calls to action at the local level, and feature a resource roundup and calls with local elected officials and other community leaders. Breaking news will be shared on our social media platforms.

Dear listeners: KDRT has over 35 volunteer radio hosts with a variety of programs. Many of which have guests. The studio is small and microphones are shared. Due to the CoronaVirus, for the next two weeks, all Listening Lyrics new shows have been cancelled. We will asses the situation at that time.
Thank you for understanding.
