Listening Lyrics April 4, 2014 (4:00PM) with THE SPOKES

The Spokes are UC Davis' only all-female a cappella group and can often be found singing on campus and around the town of Davis.

The Spokes have taken performance tours throughout California, stopping in places like Los Angeles, Berkeley, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco. Their goals for the future include broadening their already diverse repertoire, performing as much as possible, and bringing a cappella music back into the mainstream. Just as a bicycle wheel cannot spin without all its spokes, this all-female, all-fabulous group depends on the dedication of every girl to achieve its goals and remain one of Northern California’s most unique and talented music groups!

UNDERWRITING - Helping the grass roots grow

We acknowledge business contributions to KDRT with brief on-air messages called underwriting. Underwriting is to community radio what advertising is to commercial radio. The difference, however, is clear: Commercial stations may air as much as 18 minutes of advertising time per hour. KDRT airs less than one minute of underwriting per hour, which means our underwriters aren't lost in a sea of commercial hype.

JAZZ after Dark - A real local weekly treat

Jazz after Dark (with Don Shor) is a laid back musical weekly journey into the sounds of jazz.  Its hard to explain this show in a sentence or two so just take a look at the March 25th show write up "Jazz across five decades tonight. Some sax by Sam Butera, Paul Gonsalvez, Johnny Hodges, and Gerry Mulligan. Piano by Thelonious Monk, Vince Guaraldi, and Butch Thompson. Vocals by Etta Jones, and Ella Fitzgerald. And a special thank-you to Toots Thielemans, 91 years old, as he retires after 65 years of jazz harmonica and whistling!"

Listening Lyrics March 28, 2014 (4:00PM) with guest RED UNION BLUES

This is right on tap for a fun hour. This band is red hot and we are so pleased to have them for a whole hour.  The band, RED UNION BLUE was recently signed by Sunny Dragon Records.

Red Union Blue is melodic country-pop/rock music with powerful vocals and strong vocal harmonies. The band features the songwriting talents of Chris Lee, the vocals of Trena Thompson, the guitar stylings of Rich Desideri, bass player Tim Olson, and Geno Guerere on drums and percussion.

A big Thank You

A big Thank You goes to Pieter for his kind blog work on my behalf.  Yes, Candi did a super job in getting a full page in the Living History newsletter all about "The Chambers Street Theatre" on KDRT FM Radio.  Then Pieter picks up the full page and places it on the KDRT web page.  Wow.

Surely everyone now knows all about sharing information from one group to another.  Ganted sometimes we forget all those newsletters are available for crossover and that's what Pieter did here.  Thank you Pieter. The Old Sacramento Living History Program is active in it's own world, but now it's known in the KDRT FM Radio world and back the other way and so on.

We're all here to have a good time sharing our interests on Radio, and a good team it is at KDRT.  I'm always surprised by the scope of all the producers.  Keep up the good work.
