Civilization Phaze IV - Tuesday 10/7/2014 at 2:00pm

It's birthday time!  3 important figures in music get recognized on Civilization Phaze IV this Tuesday because all of them are birthday boys on October 7: 19th-century luthier (stringed instrument-maker) Jean-Baptise Vuillaume, iconic cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and Radiohead's mysterious frontman Thom Yorke.

Now the first two may make sense for a "Classical" show like Civilization Phaze IV, but Thom Yorke...?  But let's not forget that CP4 is about "Classical" music in its broadest sense.  We're challenging the definition of what it means to be "classical" - it's not as simple or as obvious as it may seem at first glance.  The lines begin to blur and before you know it, Radiohead is being played alongside Yo-Yo Ma + the Berlin Philharmonic on a so-called "Classical" music radio show in Davis, California.  Say what??

Join me for another hour of amazing music during this week's installment of Civilization Phaze IV.  It's a "Classical" music show for the people who need everything defined but come check it out with open ears and open minds.  Your idea of "Classical" may not be exactly the same as mine, but that's kind of the point.  Hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised by what you hear.
