10th Annual International Jug Band Festival in Sutter Creek and more!!

I'm going up to Sutter Creek on August 17 to get things set up for the Sutter Creek Jug Band Festival. It's at the beautiful Sutter Creek Inn right on Main Street. Ten bands, some of whom you've heard on Sounds So Sweet and some you've never heard - including the Mighty Jugamites Mento Band! The Brokin Jug Band will play in the mid-afternoon.

Then the Brokin Jug Band (Forest and I) will be playing at the Lazy Summer Daze Festival in Leland Meadows above Yosemite. Great location and lots of great music. We play Saturday afternoon at 3:00 for more than an hour.

So of course there will be no live Outta Style or Sounds So Sweet August 17 or 24. I've gone back and cherry-picked some of my favorites for your listening pleasure. I'll be back August 31 to help you kick off your Labor Day Weekend.

Arabian Wind...The Needles Eye Is Thin

Tune in to The Golden Road this Thursday, July 19th for our annual exursion into the far reaches of the Arabian desert. The K-Dirt Magic Carpet will embark on a journey through the shifting sands, the desert winds & shining stars with music from Miles Davis, Santana and the Grateful Dead all cosmically swirled together in harmony. One of the centerpieces of this broadcast will be a nice dose of Santana's epic jazz/rock masterpiece, "Caravanserai"...a groundbreaking album by one of Northern California's finest. You will also be treated to a glorious version of the Dead's "Dark Star" along with some selected sounds from their highly creative studio record, "Blues For Allah".

The broadcast will be live on KDRT 95.7 lp fm from 6 - 8 pm, replay will be on Saturday, July 21st from 3 - 5 pm. And, as always, you can tune in from all around the world at KDRT.ORG

KDRT LIVE at Farmers' Market June 27

KDRT and Davis Media Access are in the final week of our annual fund raising, and donations are very slow this year. We're taking it live to the Farmers' Market this Wednesday and hoping the community will show KDRT some love!

In partnership with the Davis Farmers' Market and its Wednesday-night Picnic in the Park, KDRT 95.7 FM will broadcast live at the market from 4-8 p.m. this Wednesday, June 27. The broadcast booth will be located at the top of the concrete steps adjoining the picnic area.

Wednesday night will feature live remote broadcasts of the following programs:
-"Insect News Network" - explore the field of cultural entomology with Emmet Brady from 4-5 p.m.
-"Empire Radio" - chat about films & movies with DJ AA
-"The Grapevine" - Rod Moseanko provides a mix of Motown, blues, soul and R&B
-"Electric Compost Heap" - DJ Doug Deep takes listeners on a wild tour through many genres of music

Wednesday's event will highlight some of the many public affairs and music programs KDRT provides, and we hope it will be just the first of such broadcasts.
