It’s the 4th anniversary of Jazz After Dark here on KDRT. 196 shows, and over 2500 songs from our first broadcast back on October 26 2010. I thought we’d go back to basics tonight, with some well-known jazz numbers. Some are historic, like Billie Holiday at Carnegie Hall, or Ella singing with the Mills Brothers very early in her career. Others are pieces classically associated with their artist, like In the Mood by Glenn Miller and Body and Soul by Coleman Hawkins, Round Midnight by Thelonious Monk, and Take Five by Dave Brubeck. It’s the golden age of jazz, from the 1930’s to the early 1960’s.
Archives of all the Jazz After Dark shows can be found at KDRT. org. Just click on the program schedule, then on the program itself. And be sure to check out all the other great programs at KDRT!
