COVID-19 Community Report, April 20, 2021: Voices of the PandemicTue, 04/20/2021 - 3:10pm | Autumn Labbe-RenaultSince launching this show on March 17, 2020 I’ve interviewed just shy of 100 people representing a breadth of experiences across Yolo County. We’ve heard from elected officials ranging from Congress to school board; from Yolo County’s public health staff, and from teachers, students, and parents. I’ve interviewed artists and musicians; journalists, businesses, and nonprofit leaders. I’ve focused on the science, interviewing epidemiologists, virologists, and hospital administrators. We’ve talked about mental health, homelessness, hopelessness, and resiliency. And through it all, I’ve tried to illustrate that the pandemic has meant many things to many people, and to highlight the ways it has illuminated the holes in our safety net, and the extra burdens borne by marginalized communities. Today I’ve pulled out what I thought were particularly poignant passages from the past 13 months. |

Celtic Songlines April 20th 2021Tue, 04/20/2021 - 11:00am | David A. ReynoldsThe production of a program such as Celtic Songlines is often the result of a predetermined theme and other times pure serendipity. This week it's the latter, the program developed as I listened to the artistry of brilliant Irish guitarist Arty McGlynn. I've wanted to produce a program featuring a sampling of several well-known guitarists working within the world of Celtic music. There are too many to feature within a single 58 minute program so consider this the first of several with future programs also featuring fiddlers and pipers. This week, in addition to Arty McGlynn, we'll hear from John Doyle, John Renbourn, Bert Jansch, Welsh guitarist Gwenifer Raymond, Al Petteway and Tony McManus. Tune in live on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to Noon at KDRT 95.7FM, stream at kdrt.org or subscribe to the "Celtic Songlines" podcast on iTunes |
