This week on the Golden Road, with a nod to Thanksgiving and all its good eats, we have a little of this and that, kind of like diving into leftovers on Friday. We will be Scaring the Children with Bob and Rob and then some good old Grateful Dead music from the Great American Music Hall but first a few tasty musical treats.

This week the Golden Road is very pleased to host a pair of special guests. Our first guest needs no introduction, as he is well known around these parts: DJ Rodriguez, and our second guest is a friend of DJ’s Lee and Rodriguez from the old days on Dead Net Central: Craig Camus. Craig is a taper and he is bringing some cherry-picked tunes chosen from shows he has recorded in the years since Jerry passed. The Dirt will studio will be rocking this week

This week the Golden Road takes us to San Francisco and the corner of Post and Steiner for Grateful Dead music record live at the Winterland on November 9-10-11, 1973. The centerpiece of this week’s show is, of course, the forty four minute musical palindrome of Playing in the Band->Uncle John’s Band->Morning Dew->UJB->PITB, which the Dead played a few times in late 1973 and early 1974. Great stuff, that is really cool and totally Grateful Dead

This week the Golden Road takes us to the Berkeley, California for Grateful Dead music recorded live on August 25th, 1972 at the Berkeley Community Theatre. That’s right; this is the brand new, just arrived in the mail last week, Dave’s Picks 24 archival release. The band is fine form this evening (it’s 1972 after all) and it is a great recording to boot.

It has been said that the Grateful Dead interpreted Bob Dylan’s music better than Dylan himself. DJ Lee tends to agree with this (to a point). So with great pleasure, we here at Golden Road have a special Fall Fundraiser show this week highlighting what we call the Dead-Play-Dylan. No, this is not music from Postcards of the Hanging (DJ Lee doesn’t even own the CD), but hand-selected Grateful Dead Dylan covers for your listening enjoyment.

DJ Lee is off this week, but fear not, we’ve got you covered, as we welcome back our intrepid former host and Golden Road creator, DJ Rodriguez (aka DJ Rod), as this week’s host, and rest assured, DJ Rodriguez without doubt has some great tune selections up his sleeve.

This week is a special edition of the Golden Road on the Dirt, with cherry-picked music by the Jerry Garcia Band (and a couple others artists) for DJ Lee’s wife Shelley, in celebration of their recent 20th Wedding Anniversary.

This week, the Golden Road takes us across the Good Old USA to Tidewater Virginia and the Hampton Coliseum and then wends its way up the East Coast to the New Jersey Meadowlands for Grateful Dead music from the Fall 1989 Tour. This tour was notable for the first full blown use of the Dead’s new in-instrument synthesizers (MIDI) and the return of Dark Star to the band’s song catalog.

This week, the Golden Road makes a return visit to the Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland for Grateful Dead music recorded live on September 25th, 1976. Now long gone, the Cap Centre was the scene of many memorable Grateful Dead concerts, including DJ Lee’s first Dead show, the show featured this week!
