The centerpiece of this week’s show is, of course, the forty four minute musical palindrome of Playing in the Band->Uncle John’s Band->Morning Dew->UJB->PITB, which the Dead played a few times in late 1973 and early 1974. That’s right; this is the brand new, just arrived in the mail last week, Dave’s Picks 24 archival release. The band is fine form this evening (it’s 1972 after all) and it is a great recording to boot. |
