That's Life

Lois Richter’s format for That’s Life is mostly interviews. Recurring topics include Davis activities and groups; work and life choices; philosophy and theory; plus birding, cooking, art, and other passions. Lois occasionally breaks into music — from ballads to the slack key sounds of Hawaii to golden oldies rock 'n' roll — but mostly there is just talk.

To suggest a topic for discussion or a person to interview, text Lois or leave a message in the comments here.

"That's Life" highlights UC Davis Arboretum, Teaching Nursery

Show host Lois Richter visits with Ellen Zagory, director of horticulture, and Francesca Claverie, assistant nursery manager from the UC Davis Arboretum. They discuss the latest happenings and plantings at the new Teaching Nursery, its demonstration garden showcasing the Arboretum "All-Stars," upcoming annual plant sales, workshops and more. On the western end of the Arboretum, an important new installation is under construction--the Nature's Gallery Court. It includes 140 hand-crafted tiles, depicting native and drought-tolerant plants and beneficial insects, made by students, faculty, and community members as part of the Art/Science Fusion
