Twang Thang features outlaw country old and new, showcasing the folks who sowed the harder-edged musical seeds for what we today call Americana, as well as the newer artists who continue the tunes and outlaw ethos forward. George Jones, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Lucinda Willimans, Steve Earle, Dwight Yoakum, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Billie Jo Shaver ... Americana music didn't just show up one day — it has deep and varied country music roots. Twang Thang explores the originators, the newcomers, and the music that happened along the way!

Thank you for another wonderful Twang Thang on 1 April. I agree that lots of Lyle Lovett and John Prine is excellent, and appreciate you playing them. Regarding Bruised Orange, it is a Seventies Prine album, so it counts as an early one ... but his debut album (self-titled) came out in 1971! That's the early one, and also the one that I would recommend to anybody starting a collection of Prine discs, not Bruised Orange. I can imagine liking the arrangements or players or sound better on either of those two albums, but the songwriting on the first is celestial. Check it out :^)
That was a great show!
Every Sunday morning, I listen to the program while driving my route around town. Every once and a while I have a delivery out on one of the county roads. There is no better feeling than tearing down those roads (at a reasonable speed of course) listening to the program at full volume. Keep up the good work, and I encourage everyone to tune in.
