The Grapevine breaks out the blues for this broadcast...lots of vintage material with a special look at the excellent sounds that came out of Chicago on the legendary Chess record label. Don't make 'em like that no more!

Absolutely amazing blues! The three Kings??? I thought we settled that...Freddy, BB and Albert. Cheers buddy! CB
Thanks for sending in a note CB, it's KDRT listeners like you that make us DJ's put the pedal to the metal, week in & week out. Can we offer KDRT listeners lame sounds? I say NAY!
And you are correct...Freddy King, BB King and Albert King are known in blues circles as the "3 Kings". Their command of 3 distinct blues styles and their influence on so many guitar players that came after them really is part of the foundation of modern day blues, and of course...rock and roll. Along with the Atlantic and Motown record labels, Chess (out of Chicago) most likely turned on more white people to the root sounds than any other. Well, I guess you would have to include Island Records or Tuff Gong out of Jamaica too.
And ain't it a better world as a result?
