Sweetwater String Band - Live in the Loam - TH 3.26.15
Mon, 03/23/2015 - 11:10am | Jess Goddésse
Come join a special broadcast of The Grapevine on Wednesday, March 18th at 6:00 pm for the KDRT debut of some exceptionally righteous Soul + Funk by Lew Hopson. This album just landed at KDRT and without a doubt, serves the sound previously laid down by James Brown, Tower of Power, Otis and even Sam Cooke for the good side of soul music.
We'll be playing a good portion of this new release from RudeLab Records so be sure to hang close to your radio, turn it on up!, and dig the sounds on KDRT!
Here's a little more info on Lew:

New Orleans flavor jazz, and more!
This week I will be playing selections from three albums. One is a new release from Richie Lawrence. Jason McNiff is from the UK who toured California recently. The last one is from the Sweetwater String Band out of Colorado. All of these beauties are well crafted and a pleasure to hear. So join us as we spin selections from the following.
Richie Lawrence: Rue Sanxay. 2015
Vocals, piano, sax, and soul jazz tonight!
Primary Colours is the second album by Australian garage punk band Eddy Current Suppression Ring. The album was recorded in a suburb of Melbourne over a 24-hour period in August 2007. The album was first released on Aarght! Records in Australia only on 5 May 2008, then on 9 September 2008 on Goner Records in the United States, and finally in the United Kingdom on Melodic Records on 17 August 2009. (Wikipedia)
I was extremely lucky to catch a set of theirs at Serra Bowl in July 2010. Supporting acts included: Thee Oh Sees, Fresh & Onlys, Sic Alps, and Ty Segall. One of the best shows I'll ever witness, no doubt. Just had the poster framed and remembered how much I loved this band. (DT)
