"Moon, June, Racoon"

Moon, June, Raccoon”  --- It’s still spring in the Sacramento Valley, but this week  Club Huga Story Time will  fast forward to the balmy month of June with writer Renne Carter Hall.   Ms. Carter-Hall’s “Moon, June, Raccoon” is a quirky tale about a part-time poet named Karen Sheffield who leaves a talisman under a tree in her backyard in the hopes of drawing romance into her life.  Instead, she attracts a longwinded, street-wise raccoon named Krispy Kreme.  That’s right, like the fried dough dipped in maple glaze.  Karen and Krispy don’t become romantically involved but they do become friends (Both of their names begin with the letter “K” and would look really sweet on a wedding invitation, but I’m sure there’s a law somewhere which prohibits that sort of union).   With a little bit of encouragement and manipulation, Krispy helps his new gal pal sort things out.    “Moon, June, Raccoon” is published in the 2007 Summer edition of the Summerset Review:  www.summersetreview.org.
