The first hour of Live Tracks features a recording from the March 1st Thursday Live! concert highlighting The Twanglers, a new ensemble of seasoned local and Bay Area musicians. They call their sound neo-Americana-Euro-Latin-blues fusion. Members are Jan Peters (pictured), mandolin, harmonica and vocals; Al Vasquez, percussion and vocals; Sean Feder, dobro; Don Bassey, bass and vocals; and Don Fox, finger-style Telecaster and vocals. Many of the bands Peters has played in over the past 25 years have been based in Davis, where he has joined local favorites like Joe Craven, Bill Scholer and Di Patterson. The second hour has a treat for those who enjoy the sounds of the '60s Bay Area ... Jim features cuts from Big Brother & The Holding Company with Janis Joplin in 1968, live from the Carousel Ballroom. Live Tracks & KDRT thank the Odd Fellows Music Committee and Watermelon Music for supporting the free concert series Thursday Live! held at Odd Fellows Hall, 415 2nd St., downtown Davis, on the first Thursday of each month.
