Hello Davis! Non-Contact Boxing for Folks with Parkinson's Disease. - May 6th, 2026

Did you know that at the Davis Senior Center they offer a Non-Contact boxing class aimed for people with Parkinson's disease. It is lead by Steve Bonnel, a local Davis Physical Fittness Instructor.

This week Maria Luccesi, Supervisor at the Davis Senior Center inteviews  Steve regarding this program

For many people with Parkinson's disease, non-contact boxing programs can offer surprisingly broad benefits — physically, mentally, and socially. Programs are usually adapted specifically for Parkinson’s patients and focus on movement, coordination, balance, and conditioning rather than fighting. Participants say the emotional lift is just as important as the physical benefits.
