In this edition of The Golden Road, we get a chance to revisit the excellent month of December 1979 with a performance by the Grateful Dead in Bill Graham's new venue, the Oakland Auditorium, on December 26. The hall was an instant hit with Dead Heads and really became a perfect gathering location for fans of the band in the Bay Area. The sound system, the special lighting and the festive feel of the day after Christmas all pointed toward a great evening & experience with the Good Ol' Grateful Dead!
This broadcast is dedicated to the life of Gene Maddex and the Maddex Family, from coast-to-coast.
"Brown-eyed women and red grenadine, the bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean. Sound of thunder with the rain pouring down, and it looks like the old man's getting on."
- lyrics by Robert Hunter
