In this edition of The Golden Road we salute the early era of The Grateful Dead and the mighty influence of Augustus Owsley Stanley III...or better known in the band circle as Bear.
The material in this broadcast illustrates the rawness of the band at their beginning and follows the spiraling 'skedelic path of electric composition & sound as they ended the turbulent decade of the 1960's. Also in the mix is a mighty glimpse of their "From Egypt With Love" run at San Francisco's fabled Winterland Arena and a power-filled version of Viola Lee Blues from the infamous Harpur College show in May of 1970.
Enjoy!
