In this edition of The Golden Road we head out for a nice trip which begins in the bucolic environs of Nevada City with new sounds from Achilles Wheel and their brand new album, "Stones To Sand".

Next up is a cosmic lift off with "Anthem Of The Sun"...easily one of most adventuresome records ever released by The Grateful Dead...or heck, anyone for that matter!...and KDRT listeners get to hear it in it's entirety. You will also hear some additional words by Jerry and actual live tapes from the legenday Acid Tests tucked in here & there.

Last, but certainly not least, all of side two from Jerry's first solo album with the epic aural sound collage conceived & created by The Maestro himself. Good stuff!!!

A special thanks goes out to Dennis McNally for getting the new Achilles Wheel release in my hands so quickly for the KDRT debut of "Stones To Sand".

About Wayne Hagen

Wayne is a founding member of the California Jug Band Association (CJBA) and a member of its Board of Directors. In 2002 Wayne and his banjo-playing buddy Andy began the International Jug Band Festival in Sutter Creek, California. The festival has given birth to new jug band festivals as far away as Louisville, Kentucky, as well as the CJBA.

Wayne has been playing jug since 1979 and he'll pull out his jug and play with anyone. He also tries to play the mandolin and is a big fan of Vol Stevens and Yank Rachell. His passion for jug band music has turned him into a walking encyclopedia of the genre. Go ahead, ask him a question -- we dare ya. He says that getting a chance to share his love for jug band music on KDRT is a great joy.

On the air at KDRT since February of 2007, Rod has hosted a true variety of music broadcasts. Beginning with the Grateful Dead based program, THE GOLDEN ROAD, then starting up a cool look at the sounds of Classic R & B, Soul, Funk and the Blues on THE GRAPEVINE, and now spinning a weekly 2 hour musical compass on SILVER NINE VOLT HEART, "Rodriguez" thoroughly enjoys the pure therapeutic effect that music has on his soul and right on down to his bones!
