Men Who Mentor - Dr. Michael Nagler

As part of our new Men Who Mentor series, we are excited to share a conversation with my (Lucy Morse Roberts) friend and mentor, Dr. Miachel Nagler.

Michael Nagler, PhD, is professor emeritus of Classics and Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley, where he founded the Peace and Conflict Studies Program and taught upper-division courses on nonviolence, meditation and a seminar on the meaning of life.  He is President of the Metta Center for Nonviolence and author of The Search for a Nonviolent Future, The Nonviolence Handbook, and The Third Harmony: Nonviolence and the New Story of Human Nature (March, 2020).  In 2007 Michael received the Jamnalal Bajaj international award for Promoting Gandhian Values Outside India.  He has spoken for the UN, the US Institute of Peace, and many academic and public venues for over thirty years.  He has lived at the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation’s ashram in Northern California since 1970. (Of possible interest: Michael has two children, two grandchidren, and one great-grandchild, voted most adorable infant of 2022).
