Celtic Songlines Winter Solstice

We’re now at that special time of year when many of us celebrate holidays during the Winter Solstice, such as Yule and Christmas. Our homes feature candles, mistletoe, holly or pines creating a close connection with the natural world.

The playlist on this week’s Celtic Songlines features artists who celebrate this season through their music, to help us pause and allow us to contemplate our connection with life on this earth and with each other.

Featured this week are the UK's Kerfuffle, the Nordic Fiddlers Bloc, enjoy the musical magic of fiddler Liz Carroll with guitarist John Doyle, Kevin Burke with Mícheál Ó Domhnail, the etherial sounds of Asynje, Banshee in the Kitchen, An Dochas, the UK's Witches of Elswick and Danú.

This week on Celtic Songlines we'll hear from Arise & Go, a band based in upper New York but with roots in Newfoundland. We'll also hear from Andy Irvine & Paul Brady, Kevin Burke, fiddler Hannah Harris from her debut album Tea for Tunes, performing music with roots in County Kerry and NW County Cork the fiddle of Matt Cranitch & accordionist Jackie Daly, traditional Irish vocalist Niamh Parsons, the Pan-Celtic band Iona.
