The Golden Road celebrates the 33rd anniversary (well...almost!) of one of the best runs The Grateful Dead ever played at their home court, San Francisco's fabled Winterland Arena. June 7, 8 & 9, 1977 was an awesome trio of performances by the band for the hometown fans. They had a brand-new record in the can and ready for release (Terrapin Station) and had finally returned to California from one of the strongest tours they would ever play. In a year of excellent live shows, these 3 nights in 1977 were among the best with June 9th being especially well-played and still well-loved by Dead Heads.
Most of June 9th is featured on this broadcast of The Golden Road, with a couple of cuts from June 8th in there as well. The remainder of the 6/9/77 show will air on KDRT on June 13th, 2010.
So let your ears & mind be treated to a wonderful evening of Live Dead!
