The Grapevine pays homage to the Twin Titans of Ghetto Soul circa the early 1970's...Isaac Hayes and Curtis Mayfield. Laying down the awesome soundtracks for Shaft, and Superfly, these two mighty musicians influenced a generation of creative sound that took soul music in a new direction while capturing a view of how instense life was for many black Americans that lived in hardcore urban areas of our country. Both Hayes and Mayfield were incredibly gifted and had been writing, producing and arranging music for others for quite some time, but their landmark work for the two films finally brought the recognition they deserved. And man, it STILL sounds awesome nearly 40 years later!!!
