This broadcast of The Golden Road is a classic 50/50 of sounds...the first hour features the acoustic mastery of Jerry Garcia & David Grisman illustrating just exactly why the music they made together was simply magical. I have cherry-picked some nice tunes from their recorded collaborations circa 1989-92 that we are sure glad that Grisman opened up his home studio to Jerry and let the tape roll!
The 2nd hour of the show features most of the 1st set from July 19, 1989 when the Grateful Dead stopped into Alpine Valley, Wisconsin for a 3 show run that folks still rave about. The band was totally in synch and laying down an excellent example of ensemble rock & roll throughout the run. I found this disc in a pile of unmarked cd's and sure am happy I can share it with the listeners of The Golden Road.
