In this edition of The Golden Road we revive one of the best double bills in rock n' roll history...The Allman Brothers Band and The Grateful Dead. Good ol' Bill Graham put these two musical forces together on a number of occasions...perhaps the best was when they both played on the same evenings at Bill's Fabled Fillmore East. To some extent, these boys shared a common bond of letting the music take them to some exceptional places by jamming...especially in the early 1970's.
The Golden Road would like to thank Mike Duffy for sharing his music collection with us for this broadcast...the set with Duane Allman joining the Grateful Dead in April of 1971 STILL has not been released due to legal junk! But don't tell anyone...you can hear right here on KDRT!
