For the last 15 years, Pickett was an associate professor of psychology at UC Davis and director of UC Davis’ Self and Social Identity Lab, which conducts research within the areas of social identity, intergroup relations, the self, social cognition, and social inclusion and belonging.
Professor Pickett also served as the Associate Vice-Provost for Faculty Equity and Inclusion at UC Davis where she developed and implemented policies and practices that promote inclusive hiring practices, supportive academic environments, and proactive retention efforts to build a diverse academic community. In July 2020, Pickett left UC Davis to assume the inaugural position of Associate Provost for Diversity, Equity,and Inclusion at DePaul University in Chicago.
Pickett is a member of several professional societies, including the Society of Experimental Social Psychology and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology where she serves on the board of directors as the member at large for education. Pickett is the past president of the Board of Education.
