As the year 2013 rumbles to a close, The Golden Road breaks out the 1st of a two-part look at the festive live sounds recorded at a couple of the Grateful Dead's infamous New Year's Eve performances. For this part we will shine the spotlight on the raucous 12/31/78 at San Francisco's Winterland Arena. Also included in the broadcast will be some excellent live acoustic material from Jerry Garcia & David Grisman (along with Jim Kerwin and Yolo County's very own Joe Craven) recorded on 12/8/91 at The Warfield.
Here's a real cool vid of the countdown to midnight at Winterland on 12/31/78...and yes, that's Bill Graham as Father Time on an only-in-San Francisco ride!
