At last, the two shows played at Keystone Berkeley in July of 1973 by Jerry Garcia, Merl Saunders, John Kahn & Bill Vitt have been released in all their taped glory! In this edition of The Golden Road, we feature the new box-set, "Keystone Companions - The Complete 1973 Fantasy Recordings". This short-lived but exceptionally talented quartet brought together a melting pot of sounds for some very laid-back but excellent shows around the Bay Area in the early '70's. The recordings, pulled by the legendary Betty Cantor-Jackson & the late Rex Jackson are sonically wonderful!
We also highlight a couple of tunes from the new release, "Melvin Seals & JBG - Live At The Great American Music Hall". This band is carrying on the spirit & sound of Jerry & Merl big time. And if you enjoy it, please consider seeing them play at the Auburn Events Center on December 15th. They are headlining an evening billed as, "A Very Jerry Christmas"...now, how can you go wrong with that! Here's a link to the event:
