Common House Productions was formed out of the fervent desire to provide an outlet for collective-based and truly democratic theater in the Sacramento area. Common House produces work from both established playwrights and new artists that focuses on the power of storytelling. The aim of this collective of theater practitioners is to transform an ordinary or unconventional performance space into a
'common house': a sacred space where art and transformation occurs. We recognize that theater as a transformative act impacts the individual as well as the collective that takes on the responsibility of telling a story, and we hope to be the catalyst for these transformations in the communities in which we perform.
