The Grapevine staff car - that 1962 Cadillac Coupe de Ville convertible...aqua blue on the outside/cream-colored leather on the inside with seats as big as sofas...takes another classic ride through the Stax-side streets of Memphis.
Just about every track on this broadcast was recorded at the legendary Stax studios...the Memphis answer to Motown, and about every note of music features Booker T. & The MG's...Booker T, Jones, Steve "Colonel" Cropper, Donald "Duck" Dunn & Al Jackson...they were the Memphis soul sound backbone and the southern version of the Funk Brothers. What a wonderful era for classic R & B and soul music!
